Thief (Crime Time EP)

by Munich Syndrome

/
1.
So there it was, I opened the door You came in and took what you could find Picking and choosing, subletting my mind Pilfering ideas, thoughts, styles, and taste Then doing a pale impression with myself erased So quiet, studying me, taking copious notes Preparing soliloquies, with stolen quotes Crafting a persona, for a life that you never led Pushing that false narrative, …instead You’re just a thief in the night, so you had to go away But with any crime, there’s a price to pay You never realized what you had, or how much you lost When it comes to theft, there’s always a cost Your walls resplendent, with copies of my records and books Copying my decor, so your home would have the very same looks Be careful with mutual friends People talk, and there were no amends You didn’t think, that I knew But everyone was talking, and they told on you You’re just a thief in the night, so you had to go away But with any crime, there’s a price to pay You never realized what you had, or how much you lost When it comes to theft, there’s always a cost

about

Through the years, several times, I’ve found myself in situations not dissimilar to the movie “Single White Female”: “friends” imitating, copying, and in a couple of instances, trying to become an analog of myself. Each and every one of them was, and is, a “Thief!”
