about

A character sketch of a lonely person who lives and sees life from behind an online persona, always waiting to be acknowledged and discovered.

lyrics

She Waits

She waits, everyday, in front of her screen
Wanting to be noticed, but never really seen
Her cigarette smoke curls, like a caress
Unhappiness unfolds each day with unfound success

She waits for the world to know, what she could be
Wanting to be clever, sexy. A celebrity
The lies that come so easily,, each and every day
She clings to them like armor, it’s the only way

To defend herself from others and reality
An empty vacuum, where only she can see
Her face in the mirror, could not be clearer
She captures it endless selfies for posterity
… and she waits

She waits for the world to recognize her worth
Cursing the circumstances of her her birth
Her lonely bitterness, ferments every day
The nastiness she cannot hide never seems to stray

Defending herself, from reality
An empty vacuum, where only she can see
Her face in the mirror, could not be clearer
She captures it endless selfies for posterity
… and she waits
